Anibal Sanchez pitched well Tuesday but not good enough to win, as he allowed two runs over 6 1/3 frames in a loss to the Athletics.
He gave up five hits, walked two and struck out three. Sanchez allowed the first three batters of the game to reach base, but he settled in pretty well after that other than a solo shot that he served up to Seth Smith in the fifth inning. His teammates simply couldn’t provide any support, managing just four singles and no runs and no runs off of Brett Anderson and the A’s bullpen.
