According to Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com, the Red Sox intend to ask the Blue Jays permission to speak to manager John Farrell.
The Red Sox fired Bobby Valentine on Thursday and are just beginning their managerial search, but Edes hears that Farrell “at the top” of their list. However, they would have to work out a trade in order to pry him away from the Blue Jays. Farrell previously worked as the Red Sox pitching coach from 2007-10.
