Max Scherzer (shoulder) is hoping to be ready to make his next scheduled start.
Scherzer is dealing with inflammation in his right shoulder and will be shut down for three days before being re-evaluated. It might be unrealistic to think he won’t have to miss at least one start, but the good news is that the righty has appeared to avoid anything serious. Drew Smyly is likely to fill in if Scherzer can’t go Sunday against the Twins.
