Max Scherzer cruised to his 14th victory in Sunday’s 5-2 win over the Angels, allowing just one run on four hits in seven innings of work.
He’s now won four straight starts. Scherzer walked two and struck out nine, retaking the major-league strikeout lead from teammate Justin Verlander. The seven-inning quality outing was his third straight, and lowers his ERA to 4.13. That’s his best mark of the season. Scherzer will bring a 1.35 WHIP and 195/54 K/BB ratio into his Saturday start against the White Sox at home.
