Andy Pettitte (ankle) has been cleared to resume a throwing program.
An X-ray on Sunday confirmed no structural damage from his latest setback. The Yankees’ current plan calls for Pettitte to resume throwing on flat ground before being cleared for a bullpen session next week. If all goes well, he could return in the first half of September.
