Hisashi Iwakuma limited the Twins to an unearned run over seven innings in beating the Twins on Friday.
Iwakuma ran the Mariners’ team total to 42 consecutive batters retired (three Tuesday, 27 Wednesday and 12 tonight) before Justin Morneau doubled to lead off the fifth. The Mariners said it was the longest such streak for any team since at least 1974. Iwakuma is now 3-2 with a 3.19 ERA in eight starts since moving into the rotation.
