B.J. Upton went 4-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI as the Rays smoked the Angels 12-3 on Friday.
Wednesday’s perfect game must have fired up the Rays, because they’ve scored 19 runs in two games since, 14 of them coming off Dan Haren and Jered Weaver. Upton homered in both games and has five homers in his last seven games. A lasting power binge could do wonders both for the Rays’ playoff chances and for his value as he heads into free agency this winter.
