Lance Berkman (knee) is aiming to begin a minor league rehab assignment at some point next week.
Berkman “does not expect much additional improvement in his right knee,” writes Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. So he’ll be limited even when he returns. Allen Craig will continue to function as the Cardinals’ everyday first baseman.
