Ubaldo Jimenez (Indians)

8/15/12 12:25 am

Ubaldo Jimenez was lit up for eight earned runs in four innings Tuesday against the Angels.

Fantasy owners probably thought they were in the clear with Jiminez after he racked up a season high 10 strikeouts while allowing three runs over six innings in Thursday’s victory over the Red Sox. Yes, he entered that outing having posted a horrifying 8.42 ERA over his last five starts, but one could be forgiven for believing, once again, that Jiminez’ talent would transcend a frightening propensity toward inconsistency. No such luck this evening. While he’s been a tremendous disappointment to this point in the season, the 28-year-old hurler — 9-12 with a 5.62 ERA — still possesses enough talent to help in fantasy leagues down the stretch. Be careful when you choose to roll the dice.
