Fernando Rodney (Rays)

Fernando Rodney blew his first save since May on Tuesday, allowing two runs — one earned — over 2/3 of an inning in a 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

Rodney entered the bottom of the ninth with a 2-1 lead. A single and a Carlos Pena error put runners at second and third with no out. Justin Smoak tied the game up with a sacrifice fly and Rodney struck out Miguel Olivo to sustain hope of extra innings. An Eric Thames RBI single ended those hopes. The 35-year-old journeyman Rodney still has an amazing 0.97 ERA and only two losses to go with 37 saves.
