Ervin Santana had one of his best starts of the season in Wednesday’s 8-4 win over the Indians, allowing just one run on four hits in seven innings.
Santana struck out four and walked one in improving to 6-10. Tonight was just the sixth time in 23 starts he allowed fewer than three runs. He’s now been quality in three of six outings since the All-Star break. One of baseball’s biggest enigmas will bring a 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 91/48 K/BB ratio into his Tuesday start in Boston. It might be smart to leave him benched for that one.
