Manny Machado (Orioles)

8/10/12 9:18 pm

Manny Machado broke out in a big way in Friday’s 7-1 victory over the Royals, smashing a pair of home runs and driving in four.

Machado launched a two-strike pitch from Luke Hochevar for a solo shot in the fifth inning for his first MLB homer. A 15-year-old O’s fan who caught the ball, gladly traded it to Machado for some autographed goodies. Astoundingly, the very next inning Machado blasted another homer, this one a three-run shot, that was caught by the very same fan. At just 20 years old and 35 days, he became the youngest player in Orioles history to record a multi-homer game. Growing pains are likely, but he figures to be the hottest waiver wire add this weekend.
