Will Smith pitched a solid ballgame in Thursday’s victory over the Orioles, allowing just two runs on six hits over seven strong frames.
Smith racked up five strikeouts and walked three on the evening. Nick Markakis finally broke through and got the O’s on the board with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, and Matt Wieters added a solo blast in the sixth. With the strong effort, the 22-year-old left-hander improves to 3-4 on the season and lowers his ERA to 5.48. He’ll look to keep the ball rolling when he takes on Athletics at home on Wednesday.
