Brooks Raley didn’t looked he belonged in the majors Tuesday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and three walks in just four innings.
It was a nightmare big league debut for Raley. Promoted earlier in the day, he was absolutely blasted in what should have be the cushiest assignment in baseball — an evening at PETCO. The 24-year-old posted a 3.58 ERA and 98/40 K/BB ratio in 130 2/3 innings this season between Double- and Triple-A. Respectable numbers. But one would suspect he’ll head back to the farm after this stinker.
