Cole Hamels (Phillies)

8/2/12 8:43 pm

Cole Hamels turned in a quality start in Thursday’s loss to the Nationals, surrendering three runs on eight hits over his seven innings of work.

Hamels piled up nine strikeouts while walking just one in the game. Adam LaRoche blasted a solo homer in the second inning, then added a run scoring single in the third inning to provide the bulk of the damage. He has now allowed three or more earned runs in each of his last three outings, but still sports a sparkling 11-6 record, 3.34 ERA and 147/40 K/BB ratio in 145 2/3 innings on the season. He?ll look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Braves at home on Tuesday.
