According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, the Marlins are aggressively looking to deal John Buck before Tuesday’s trade deadline.
Buck joins Carlos Lee and Heath Bell as names that the Marlins would like to ship out of town before the end of the day. They are reportedly seeking outfield help in return, but shouldn’t expect much for a catcher hitting an abysmal .169/.286/.298 with eight homers and 26 RBI in 76 games this season. Should they find a potential suitor, Brett Hayes would likely slide in as the starting backstop, with recently acquired Rob Brantley being promoted to serve as his backup.
