Jason Vargas turned in a terrific outing in Saturday’s victory over the Rays, allowing just one unearned run on seven hits over his six innings of work.
Vargas racked up five strikeouts while walking three in the game. A popular name on the trade block, Vargas may have made his final appearance as a member of the Mariners, and if so went out on top. Wherever his next start comes, he’ll head into it with a 10-7 record, 3.91 ERA and 91/38 K/BB ratio over his 138 innings.
