Pedro Alvarez tied Monday’s game against the Rockies with a three-run blast in the ninth inning before Colorado won in the bottom of the frame.
The two teams sat through an hour rain delay, which resulted in the Rockies replacing closer Rafael Betancourt with Rex Brothers. Alvarez took the tough lefty deep but then watched the home team win on a walk-off sac fly from Dexter Fowler. Alvarez is hitting just .227 this season but has gone deep 18 times.
