Joey Votto needs surgery to repair meniscus damage in his left knee and will miss around two weeks.
This doesn’t come completely out of nowhere, as Votto was bothered by inflammation in the knee leading up to the All-Star break. The good news for the Reds is that it’s not considered serious, but it still comes at a tough time for the NL Central-leaders. Todd Frazier is filling in at first base Monday night and should play pretty regularly over the next couple of weeks.
