Ben Sheets turned in an outstanding performance in his Braves debut on Sunday, allowing just two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings in a victory over the Mets.
Sheets also racked up five strikeouts in the game. His fastball velocity sat consistently in the 89-91 range, hitting as high as 93. The victory is Sheets first since July 10, 2010. He needed 105 pitches to get through his six innings, retiring the last 10 hitters he faced. If he can provide anything close to his former levels of dominance, he will provide a tremendous boost to the Braves rotation in the second half of the season. Fantasy owners should immediately take notice and scoop him up before Saturday’s start against the Nationals in Washington.
