Justin Verlander’s first All-Star game start didn’t go well, as he was pounded for five runs on four hits and two walks over an inning of work.
Verlander’s velocity was fine, but his command wasn’t, and the National League jumped on him early and often, with Pablo Sandoval providing the biggest blow in the form of a bases-clearing triple. Matt Harrison also had a rough time, permitting three runs on four hits in his inning.
