Joba Chamberlain (elbow, ankle) allowed one unearned run in one inning Tuesday in his first rehab appearance for the Gulf Coast League Yankees.
Chamberlain tossed a hitless inning while striking out two and walking none. The run scored due to a couple of errors and a passed ball. He threw 23 pitches in all and topped out at 97 mph, which is a good sign for the health of his surgically-repaired elbow. Chamberlain will likely need most of his 30-day rehab clock to get ready, but he should be back in the Yankees’ bullpen by the end of the month or early August.
