Jacoby Ellsbury (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list for the start of the second half Friday.
Ellsbury has batted only .185/.290/.370 over eight rehab games, but the important thing is he hasn’t had any setbacks physically and is ready to re-take his center field duties in Beantown. The Sox will also get Carl Crawford back before long, creating a logjam in their outfield that they hope to solve by dealing Ryan Sweeney.
