Fernando Rodney will get the ball for the American League if a save situation is presented in Tuesday’s All-Star Game.
Rodney was one of the biggest surprises of the first half, posting a 0.93 ERA and 38/5 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings while going 25-for-26 in save opportunities. He’s certainly deserving, but it’s still an interesting call by Rangers manager Ron Washington, as his closer Joe Nathan is on the squad. Jim Johnson of the Orioles and Chris Perez of the Indians are the other closers on the team.
