James Shields allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits and two walks in seven innings of Sunday’s 7-6 win over the Indians.
Shields struck out five and served up a solo home run to Casey Kotchman in a no-decision. Shields has now completed at least seven innings of work in each of his past three starts, but also allowed at least 10 hits each time out. He’ll enter the break the owner of a disappointing 4.17 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 109/34 k/BB ratio through 118 2/3 innings. He’s pretty much splitting the difference between his awful 2010 and electric 2011.
