Eric Stults (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tucson Thursday.
Stults threw a 48-pitch simulated game Saturday with no issues and is ready to test himself out in game action. “He looked okay, a little rusty,” Padres manager Bud Black said of Stults. “Now it’s a matter of regaining arm strength.” Stults will make at least two rehab starts for Tucson. With the injuries to the Padres’ rotation, there’s a good chance the big club will need him after that.
