Prince Fielder hit a tie-breaking three-run homer in the eighth as the Tigers beat the Twins 7-3 on Thursday.
The Tigers were down 3-2 entering the bottom of the eighth before tying the game of Alex Burnett. Tyler Robertson was brought in to face Fielder and immediately gave up a no-doubter to right field, making it 6-3 Detroit. Delmon Young then followed with a solo blast of his own. Fielder’s homer was his 13th of the season, so he’s still well off his usual pace. Nevertheless, he will represent the AL in the Home Run Derby on Monday.
