Michael Fiers yielded two runs in 7 1/3 innings and struck out nine in a loss to the Marlins on Thursday.
Fiers has racked up 19 strikeouts in his last two starts and 50 in 46 2/3 innings for the season. That’s pretty amazing for a guy who averages 88 mph and tops out at 90 mph with his fastball. The league figures to adjust to his cutter in time, but he’s worth using in all formats until it happens.
