Matt Adams will likely be rested until mid-July due to a nagging right elbow injury.
Adams was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on June 22 and hasn’t played since June 30. He was told by a physician that he is not risking further injury if he continues to play, so the Cardinals are content to have the issue resolved during the offseason as long as he can manage the discomfort. The 23-year-old will be eased back into action by participating in batting practice and doing defensive work.
