Angels placed RHP Dan Haren on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 4, with lower back stiffness.
Haren gave up six runs over 4 1/3 innings against the Indians on Tuesday, after which he admitted that he has been dealing a back injury. Amazingly, this is the first time he has been placed on the disabled list during his 10-year major league career. The Angels will need to decide on a starter for Sunday, but Kevin Jepsen was called up to replace him on the active roster.
