A.J. Burnett was pounded for six runs on 12 hits and two walks over five innings Tuesday but escaped with a no-decision in an 8-7 win over the Astros.
It’s easily his worst start since getting pummeled for 12 runs back on May 2, as Burnett has allowed three runs or fewer in all 12 of his other outings this season. He’ll continue to be prone to a blowup every now and then, but Burnett has been good enough that we fully expect him to bounce back this weekend against the Giants.
