FOXSports.com reports the Red Sox are “speaking with multiple clubs” about Kevin Youkilis and ”continue to move closer to a deal.”
ESPN’s Buster Olney reported the White Sox have engaged in heavy dialogue regarding Youkilis, and the Dodgers and possibly other teams ”remain in the mix.” The Braves also recently scouted Youkilis, though it was likely just a matter of due diligence. Boston is reportedly willing to assume a portion of $7 million remaining on Youkilis’ contract, along with a $1 million buyout, to receive a better package in return.
