Ian Stewart (Cubs)

Ian Stewart (wrist) said the specialist he saw in Cleveland this week diagnosed him with a possible impingement between bones in his left hand.

The specialist also saw signs of an old compression injury that has healed on its own, which could be the source of the discomfort and occasional tingling Stewart has dealt with in his wrist for over a year. Surgery doesn’t appear to be an option, though, as the Cubs are hoping Stewart is better after receiving a cortisone shot. If the shot works, he could return from the DL on June 29 when first eligible. He’ll test out the wrist by hitting off a tee Saturday or Sunday.
