Yuniesky Betancourt went 2-for-7 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday’s 5-3, 15-inning win over the Cardinals.
Hitless entering the top of the 14th inning, Betancourt doubled home the go-ahead run in a 2-2 game only to see Jonathan Broxton cough up the lead in the bottom half. Betancourt got another chance to put the Royals ahead in the 15th, however, and didn’t disappoint, launching a two-run homer. Hitting .250/.287/.466, Betancourt hasn’t been playing quite every day in June, but that could change depending on the severity of Chris Getz’s leg injury.
