Jonathan Broxton blew his third save in Sunday’s 15-inning win over the Cardinals, but recovered to get the victory.
Protecting a 3-2 lead in the 14th, Broxton allowed one run on three hits. The Royals scored two in the top of the 15th, however, and Broxton sent the Cardinals down in order in the bottom half. Broxton’s numbers ? 1.69 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 20/9 K/BB ratio ? through 26 appearances and 26 2/3 innings are hardly elite, but his grip on closing duties is firm.
