Jason Motte blew his fourth save in Sunday’s 15-inning loss to the Royals.
Protecting a 2-1 lead in the ninth, Motte has the Royals down to their final out, but served up a pinch-hit home run to Billy Butler. The home run allowed was Motte’s fifth of the season, and second in his past five appearances. Motte’s ERA is a shaky 3.41, but he’s still allowing barely a baserunner per inning while striking out a batter per inning. His job isn’t in danger.
