Carlos Marmol has regained his job as the Cubs closer, according to Cubs manager Dale Sveum.
Sveum cited the need to stabilize the back end of the bullpen as the driving force behind the move. Marmol was right back to his old tricks in his first opportunity on Friday. After entering with a 3-0 lead, the Red Sox loaded the bases with a single, walk and man reaching on an error. Marmol was able to bear down and pitch himself out of the inning without surrendering a run. He still has dominating stuff and has shown the ability to succeed in the closer’s role before, and he should be owned in all leagues and formats now that he has his job back.
