Brian Matusz was hit hard in his loss to the Braves on Friday, surrendering four runs on nine hits and three walks in his 5 2/3 innings.
The only thing keeping his start from being a complete disaster was the seven strikeouts he was able to record. After turning in five straight strong outings, Matusz has taken a major step back in his last two. He now sits at 5-7 on the season with an unimpressive 4.94 ERA. He’ll attempt to get back on track when he battles against the Mets in New York on Wednesday.
