Jerome Williams gave up five runs over 7 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Dodgers.
We have a hard time blaming Williams for his final line. The Angels sent him out for the eighth inning with a 2-1 lead. With two outs and a runner on first, Williams walked a batter and gave up a single. With the game tied, manager Mike Scioscia still didn’t summon a reliever. Williams promptly served up a three-run homer to Juan Rivera that changed the complexion of the game. Even though his numbers were hurt by Scioscia’s decision, Williams still holds a 4.20 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.
