Paul Maholm turned in a very strong performance in a no-decision against the Tigers on Tuesday night, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings of work.
Maholm racked up a season-high seven strikeouts in the game while walking just one. He cruised through the first six innings, then allowed the first two hitters to reach in the seventh before being removed. The Cubs’ bullpen quickly allowed both inherited runners to score, as well as a third run, taking away Maholm’s much-deserved shot at the win. He’ll take a 4-5 record and 4.91 ERA into his next start against the Red Sox at home on Sunday.
