Dodgers signed OF Andre Ethier to a five-year, $85 million contract extension.
The contract was made official during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The deal includes a $17.5 million vesting option for 2018 or a $2.5 million buyout. It’s a big chunk of change for Ethier, who is hitting .287/.348/.509 with 10 homers, 53 RBI and an .856 OPS through 61 games this year. While he should remain a productive player in the short-term, the Dodgers are paying him big money for his age 31-35 seasons. Chances are he’s the best he will ever be at this very moment.
