Tyler Clippard shut down the Red Sox in the ninth inning for the second consecutive day Saturday, earning his seventh save of the year in the process.
He’s been nothing short of terrific since taking over the Nationals’ ninth-inning role, now with saves in each of his first seven opportunities. The longer Clippard keeps this up, the harder it will be for Washington to move him back to the eighth inning once Drew Storen (elbow) returns from the DL.
