Chipper Jones (calf) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Class A Rome.
Jones wanted to avoid a rehab stint, but he was ultimately overruled. He’ll play rehab games on Saturday and Sunday on should rejoin the Braves for Monday’s series opener against the Yankees. The 40-year-old third baseman suffered a left calf contusion when he was hit with a line drive on May 18 and underwent surgery a few days later to have fluid removed from his leg.
