Lucas Giolito said Tuesday that UCLA is still an option for him.
The Nationals selected the talented but injured high school hurler with the No. 16 pick in the 2012 draft knowing full well that they might lose him to college. Giolito has been throwing long toss from 280-300 feet and said he is confident that his elbow issues are in the past. Giolito was a potential No. 1 talent before that elbow ended his prep career in March. Tests revealed no ligament or tendon damage. Giolito, a 6-6, 230-pounder, has hit 100 mph on the gun and has ace potential.
