Jarrod Parker took a no-hitter into the eighth and ended up allowing one hit in eight scoreless innings Monday in a defeat of the Rangers.
The pressure was off Parker after the A’s busted out for eight runs in the second, and Parker simply cruised along, never allowing a hit until Michael Young singled leading off the eighth. Young was later retired on a double play, and Parker finished up his best performance yet. Jim Miller replaced him in the ninth and did give up one run, spoiling the shutout bid.
