Astros recalled RHP Jordan Lyles from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
And we have our first case of a team abusing the new rules permitting a 26th player for doubleheaders. The Astros used the extra spot to demote Lyles and then recall him before his 10 days were up, giving themselves an extra player for a few days, rather than the one day for which the rule was designed. Lyles remains in the rotation, and he’ll get the start Sunday night against the Reds.
