Nick Markakis (wrist) said Friday that he is hopeful he’ll be able to return to the team during their nine-game homestand beginning on June 22.
The early estimate for his return was pegged at 3-6 weeks, so this updated timetable seems plausible. Markakis vows to work feverishly to return as quickly as his body will allow him to. He will remain with the team over the weekend before revisiting the doctor on Monday to remove the gauze and bandaging on his hand.
