John Danks said he is currently dealing with soreness behind his left shoulder.
Danks has been scratched from Friday’s start against the Indians and is expected to be placed on the disabled list. Jose Quintana will be called up from Double-A Birmingham to pitch in his place Friday. It’s clear how long Danks has been pitching through the soreness, but this would certainly explain why he has struggled so much in the early going. The southpaw hopes to return on June 4, but White Sox manager Robin Ventura seems to think he won’t need a minor league rehab assignment.
