Twins outfield prospect Joe Benson is scheduled to undergo hamate bone surgery on Friday.
It’s been a nightmare of a season for Benson, who was recently demoted from Triple-A Rochester to Double-A New Britain because of poor performance. The 24-year-old outfielder is doubtful to reach the majors this year. He made his big league debut last September.
