Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson told reporters Wednesday that J.J. Putz is still his closer.
Putz blew his third save of the season on Tuesday night against the Dodgers and owns a frightening 7.20 ERA on the year. But he’s been the victim of some bad luck and still boasts a dominant 17/3 K/BB ratio in 15 innings. David Hernandez would likely get a chance at saves if Putz’s struggles continue.
